Middle East Peace Talks and Major Tornadoes - Bill Koenig of www.watch.org

Again, we have had major tornadoes that coincide with high-level U.S. official’s peace meetings on Israel. This pattern has repeated itself or has also happened when President Clinton or President Bush were directly involved in the peace talks.

Super cells with enormous size and power spawned the following major record-breaking tornadoes. When Israel’s land and property is at risk, the same is true for the land and property of the United States.

May 3, 1999 – Major Tornado Swarm and 316 MPH Record Wind Speed:

MSNBC stated the November 10-11, 2002 storms sparked the largest tornado swarm since May 3, 1999. Here is what happened on May 3, 1999. The Powerful Super Tornado occurred on the day that Yasser Arafat was scheduled to declare a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. This was the most powerful tornado storm system ever to hit the United States. It swept across Oklahoma and Kansas and the winds were clocked at 316 mph -- the fastest wind speed ever recorded.

Arafat’s declaration was postponed from May 3 until December 1999, at the request of President Clinton. The Clinton letter to Arafat encouraged him in his "aspirations for his own land." Clinton also wrote that the Palestinians have a right to "determine their own future on their own land" and that they deserve to "live free, today, tomorrow and forever."

April 30, 2002 - F-5 Tornado:

President George W. Bush and the State Department Negotiate Arafat’s Release from Ramallah Compound – F5 Tornado in Maryland

On Sunday, April 28, the United States brokered a deal with Israel, arranging for Arafat to be released from his Ramallah compound. Early Sunday, a series of tornadoes swept through southeastern Missouri, Illinois and western Kentucky, killing three people and severely damaging homes and commercial buildings. The tornado that hit Maryland were part of a storm system with heavy rain, high winds and damaging hail that rumbled east from the Ohio Valley. The Maryland storm was an F5 tornado on the Fujita Tornado Damage Scale, and was called "a monster of a tornado." With winds in the 261-318 mph range, it is said to be the strongest tornado ever to hit Maryland.

November 10-11, 2002 - 88 Tornadoes:

The weekend of November 10-11, 2002 we heard about and observed enormous storms and tornadoes that hit thirteen US states. MSNBC reported there were at least 35 people in five states killed and 200 others injured. In Tennessee alone, 100 homes were destroyed and 1,000 damaged. AP reported there were eighty-eight tornadoes with that count still climbing. There were also major thunderstorms reported from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes.

On Sunday, November 10, 2002, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield was on his way to Israel to apply pressure on Israel to complete their work and comments on the Quartet’s “road map” to peace. He had numerous meetings on Monday and Tuesday with Israeli officials. He also met Sunday with Palestinians officials.

May 3-5, 2003 – 83 Tornadoes

On Saturday, May 3, U.S. Secretary of State Colin told Syrian President Bashar Assad that the U.S. commitment to Middle East peace "would include Syria and Lebanon, and would include the Golan Heights," particularly sensitive issue for Syria.

On Sunday, May 4, it was reported that Secretary Powell is expected to visit Israel on Saturday for talks about implementing the Road Map peace plan, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official said.

Also on Sunday a deadly swarm of tornadoes ripped through eastern Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee, killing at least 38 people and doing extensive damage to homes and buildings. It was "the most devastating series of tornadoes we've ever had in the state of Missouri," Gov. Bob Holden said after walking the rubble-strewn streets of Pierce City, where eight of the missing were from.

On Monday, May 5, less than 24-hours from the 83 tornadoes and the Powell news, U.S. Middle East envoy William Burns said in a meeting with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Palestinians must carry out a decisive fight against terrorism and Israelis must halt settlement activity.

Dangerous Destructive Tornados - From God or Satan?

Who controls the weather - God or Satan? Does the recent destructive tornados that devastated large sections of the Midwest have anything to do with the Bush Road Map for Peace that Collin Powell and the EU say must be enforced on both Israel and the Palestinians without modification? Does God use mother nature to bring judgment upon nations that defy His Word? The answers to these questions as well as many like them are all in the bible.

The answer to the question, "Does God or Satan control the weather" is that God ultimately controls the weather because the bible says "the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell in it." (Psalms 24:1). There are several Hebrew words which define the meaning of "earth." Therefore, the context determines the precise meaning. In the Psalms 24 passage, the Hebrew root word for "earth" (melo) implies the fullness of the earth including the earth's atmosphere from where our weather originates. If the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, then He rules over that realm.

If God ultimately has jurisdiction over the earth and all of its parts, then what part of any does Satan play in the scheme of things? The book of Job provides the answer. In Job chapter 1, God and Satan are having a discussion about Job as follows:

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Where have you been? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and abhors evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have not You made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth Your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he has is in Your power; only upon himself put not forth Your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. (Job 1:6-12).

Then we read in verses 18 and 19:

18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Apparently, after Satan was granted permission to test Job, he brought a series of calamites upon Job that resulted in the destruction of his possessions and the death of all his children. Notice one of the methods Satan used to kill Jobs sons and daughter was "a great wind" (verse 19). The Hebrew word for great is "gadal" meaning "to twist." The great wind that destroyed the house where Job's sons and daughters were dining was a strong twisting wind - obviously a tornado. This tornado originated from Satan, not God, but God had given Satan the authority to do as he pleased with Job except that he could not kill him.

In the New Testament, Satan is called "the prince and power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2). Wuest in his Greek Word Studies says the Greek word for air "aeros" means the atmosphere above the earth (The first heaven). It is the same word used in I Thessalonians 4:17 where it speaks of Jesus returning to the air to resurrect and rapture the dead and living believers at the end of the age. Therefore, since the fall of man Satan has authority to rule in the first heaven or the atmosphere above the earth.

From this passage and the one in Job, we can correctly conclude that devastating tornados that destroy property and take human life is the work of Satan. The earth has been under a curse since the day Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and Satan has been granted temporary authority from God to work havoc on planet earth though the curse. However, as believers we know that the penalty for the curse of sin and death has been spiritually removed by the cross of the Lord Jesus and that Satan cannot touch us without the Lord's permission:

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (Heb. 2;14).

All evil originates from Satan and man's fallen nature. Devastating tornados that descended upon the Midwestern Unites States may very well be the work of a sinister spirit, Satan, and not just natural phenomenon. Because the month of May is the period when most major tornados occur in the United States, it is only natural for the weather prognosticators to attribute it to the right weather conditions - a mixture of cool northern air combining with warmer southern air colliding over a section of our nation. The secular meteorologist would never consider that such wide spread destructive storms may be more spiritual in nature than physical, yet the bible says there is a correlation to violent weather and Satanic power.

If this is true and maybe the cause of the tornado activity in the Midwestern United States, why did God permit Satan to destroy human life and property at this particular time? Has he not just given us a great victory in Iraq - the conquering of an entire nation in three weeks time? Doesn't our victory in Iraq prove that God favors America as we now sit atop of the world as the only military superpower? Surely God would not send his messenger boy, Satan, to bring destructive weather upon the heartland of our nation at this time.

Bill Koenig has written several excellent articles and co-authored the book:
Israel: The Blessing or the Curse showing the correlation between the Bush Road Map for Peace and damaging weather patterns occurring in the United States, usually within a 24-hour period after statements are made to force Israel to give up more land for peace and create a Palestinian State within the borders of Israel. The violent tornados that struck the U.S. this past weekend occurred shortly after the U.S. State Department issued statements that the Road Map must be implemented without modifications and one U.S. diplomat criticized Israel for not making living conditions for the Palestinians more tolerable.

Because of the nature of these tornados (a supercell creating approximately 90 tornados with some staying on the ground for over 2 hours), I do not believe they were just a freak of nature. When a nation defies the Word of God regarding the land of Israel and the Jewish people, particularly since they have returned to the land in a partial fulfillment of Ezekiel chapters 36 and 37, God says that it does not go unnoticed because His eye is continually upon the land of Israel and the Jewish nation:

27 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. 28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says the LORD. (Jeremiah 31:27-28).

Maybe God has already given Satan permission that whatever nation forces Israel to give up land for peace and to allow a Palestinian State within their borders to strike the land and people of that nation with violent weather patterns like he did to Job's sons and daughters. It is not that Satan favors one nation over another for we know that he hates all of God's creation and doesn't care what part of it he steals, kills, and destroys. He is only glad to be able to work through the curse to create as much havoc on planet earth as is possible.

A whole book could be written to prove from the Scriptures the relationship of ecological calamities to the judgment of God. In one passage, God says that He has reserved in store hailstones for the day of judgment (Job 38:23). Then why not violent tornados?

Who controls the weather - God does, but Satan as the prince and power of the air has some latitude as the source of violent storms, particularly when they are related to the judgment of God for bringing hardship upon the Jewish race and the land of Israel.

You say things are getting better and better?

Most who hold the preterist belief about Bible prophecy –the proposition that prophecy, for the most part, was fulfilled by 70 A.D. when Titus and the Roman army destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem—believe also that Christians are making the world better and better in preparation for Christ to return. The Lord will then, they preach, rule on His throne over a utopian earth.

Sadly, the entire reform movement (those who broke away from the Catholic Church in the 1500s-1600s) believe, too, that this world is becoming ever better through their efforts –that is, the efforts of the Christian Church.

If you’ll notice, these “reformers” –for example, Dr. James Kennedy of the Presbyterian Church and his Coral Ridge Ministries—preach a message that is heavily slanted toward working within the political process to make America and the world everything God means for them to be.

Please let me at this point try to assuage all who love and admire Dr. Kennedy from branding me instantly as a heretic. I’m one of you. He presents the Gospel in as clear light as anyone in the history of Christianity. I love and admire him and his ministry as his Christian brother.

However, I must take exception to the part of his theological package that proposes the world can get better and better through true Christian political efforts –or through any other human-based effort. It just ain’t happening, and ain’t going to happen.

Here’s why:

Man is still fallen. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. There is none good, no not one –except through and in Christ Jesus.

Those are some Scriptural reasons. Here are some proofs today of prophetic truth given in the words of the Apostle Paul:

Dr. Kennedy, I ask you…You say things are getting better, and better?

Read your headlines in your morning or evening newspaper today. Catch your local and national news on television, or on radio. You will find that every one of the symptoms of end-time man, listed by Paul in 2 Timothy, Chapter 3 resides within those stories –every day!

Again I must say –as I did last week—primary among signals that we are bumping up against the end of the age is the idea that God has turned his back on Israel. The Church is doing just that in large part.

Those who turn their back on Israel, denying that there is any future for the Jewish state, so far as God’s prophetic plans are concerned, fall right into place among the rest of America and the world, who, through their “do good” and “feel good” programs, march proudly having a form of godliness. But, they deny the power thereof. They are not making the world grow better and better. They are a major part of making it infinitely worse. They are dangerously close to the prophesied apostasy that will be filled with men (and women) who will deceive and be deceived.

Paul tells us, “from such, turn away” (2 Tim. 3:5).

Acts of God: America's Warning Not to Divide Israel - By Jennifer James

CBN.com - Since its modern establishment, the state of Israel has been a hotbed of controversy. Jews and Palestinians have long battled over who should rightfully inhabit the land of Israel, a land promised to the Jews 4,000 years ago. In the Bible, the book of Genesis details the covenant God made with the descendants of Abraham.

"On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, 'to your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river of Euphrates.'" - Genesis 15:18.

For more than a decade, America has led attempts to settle that dispute, each time encouraging Israel to bring its covenant lands to the bargaining table, this time with the "Road Map" peace plan. Bible scholars say that may be a costly decision for the U.S. as America again stands at odds with God's covenant promise.

U.S. Consul General Jeffrey Feltman said, "What we need to do now is implement and focus on how we get the two sides back to a political process and towards the vision of a two-state solution: Israel and Palestine living side by side."

On April 30, 2003, America was positioned as the catalyst to jump-start the so-called "solution" to the Middle East crisis. As U.S.-backed Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas was sworn in, the "Road Map" peace plan was set in motion.

The very next day began the worst month of tornadoes in American history, more than 500 in a single month. Normally, 1,000 tornadoes hit the United States each year, but this year, in just eight days in May, 375 twisters ripped across the heartland of America.

While in Israel, Assistant Secretary of State William Burns told a group of left-wing activists that "common sense" would override the conservative and Christian viewpoints concerning the road map.

May 9th, 2003, President Bush addressed students at the University of South Carolina. Bush called on the Palestinians to embrace the road to peace, and see the flag of Palestine raised over a free nation.

Hours later, tornadoes returned and Oklahoma City again became the bulls-eye for deadly twisters, reducing what was left of businesses and homes to splinters and bricks. The tornadoes of May devastated the Midwest with the third worst property damage in American history. Since then, the Road Map has endured a rocky road to June, coinciding with what may be America's most rain-drenched spring in history.

On the East Coast there have been less than 10 rainless weekends the entire year. And in the West, certain crop-eating pests are having their best year in six decades amid dry conditions.

In the early stages of the Road Map peace process, weather catastrophe and recent violence in Israel have competed for the headlines. That violence coupled with America's own battles at home are leading some to question the Road Map. Is there a connection between dividing the Holy Land and utter disruption? Some Bible scholars think so.

In the book of Joel, God warns against dividing the land of Israel. Joel 3:1-2 says, "...I will enter into judgment with them there on behalf of my people and my inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; and they have divided up my land."

Bill Koenig, author of:
Israel: The Blessing or the Curse said, "We know for a fact that God gave this land, through the Abrahamic covenant, He gave the land of Israel to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants, and this land is God's land."

Koenig said the U.S. should not consider such chaos a coincidence. "These are warning signals, these are warning judgements to America that this is My covenant land and it's not to be traded for promises of peace and security. This land is not to be parceled," he said.

In the last 12 years, the U.S. has stepped up its efforts to pressure Israel to give up her covenant lands, several times sharing the spotlight with major storms.

On October 30, 1991, in a meeting scheduled by the first President Bush, Israelis and Palestinians discussed ways to achieve peace in the Middle East. Opening talks focused on trading the lands of Israel for a peace agreement.

That same day, thousands of miles away, a powerful storm was brewing off the coast of Nova Scotia. On October 31st, what would be called "The Perfect Storm" smashed into New England, pummeling the President's Kennebunkport, Maine home with waves 30 feet high. It was a storm so rare that the weather patterns required to create it only happen once every 100 years.

August 23rd, 1992, Middle East peace talks resumed in Washington, D.C. The issue remained surrendering the biblical lands of Judea and Samaria in exchange for peace. Hundreds of miles south, Florida was the target of the worst natural disaster in American history. Hurricane Andrew tore through with an eye more than 30 miles wide and winds up to 178 miles per hour leaving a $32 billion disaster.

Koenig said, "The world leaders have attempted to parcel the covenant land, so as Israel's property and land is at risk, so is the property of the nation that's promoting the peace process. And I might add that the greater the pressure on Israel to give up this property, the greater the repercussions and the greater the following events that take place afterwards."

In the Bible, the prophet Zechariah warned the nations that would come against Jerusalem. "On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves," says Zechariah 12:3.

Koenig said, "We have the nations of the world right now siding with the Arabs and the Muslims that are focused on the covenant land, but we know God is standing with the nation of Israel."

Is America playing a dangerous game? As the Road Map peace process encounters resistance, the Bush administration's determination to see it through has escalated.

Secretary of State Colin Powell said, "We have a plan, we have the commitment of leaders and now we have to execute that plan, keep moving forward and not allow ourselves to be distracted or thrown off point, from the promise that's out there with the Road Map, by this surge of violence. We've got to punch our way through it."

But, up against biblical prophecies, Koenig said America is standing against the very Word of God and should expect major obstacles.

"I believe the Lord will allow these events to happen that disrupt the peace process," he said. "As long as you are going to have a terrorist infrastructure that's allowed to co-exist in the nation Israel, we're going to have a problem."

And with those same terrorist groups opposed to America's brand of peace, the future of the Road Map is dim. Israelis maintain they will be relentless to protect their country while all plans to split up the tiny nation may be curbed.

Koenig said, "God loves the nation of Israel. He still, to this day, loves this nation. He is in hot pursuit of the people of Israel. Through these events, we look at the tragedies and we look at the trials, but God's trying to wake up the world."
