Rev Wallace Benn, the Bishop of Lewes, told the Reform conference of

the corner.”
Influential Theologian Troubled by Christian-Muslim Dialogue
“We don’t believe that Jesus Christ is our hero. We don’t believe that Jesus
Christ is merely our prophet. He is Prophet and Priest and King,” Mohler
said, according to the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Towers news
service. “He is the incarnate Son of God. He is the second person of the
Trinity. He is the Lord over all.
Christians, Muslims Gather to Build a Common Future
Christian and Muslim leaders are gathered in Geneva for a high-level

between the two groups and how the religious communities can use their
resources to transform their communities.
Indonesian Volcano Spurs Evacuations of Refugees
Indonesia is evacuating more people from near Mount Merapi after the volcano
had its biggest eruption yet. Government volcanologist Surono said the
explosive eruption Wednesday afternoon lasted more than an hour and shot
searing ashes kilometers (miles) into the sky.

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck Serbia early

Qaeda group in Iraq says Christians 'legitimate targets'
"All Christian centres, organisations and institutions, leaders and
followers, are legitimate targets for the mujahedeen (holy warriors)
wherever they can reach them," said the statement.
Terror
Hits Greece, Germany, Iraq as US Votes; Bombs Kill 62
A wave of terror hit Tuesday in Iraq, Greece, and Germany, where officials
discovered a parcel bomb at Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office as Americans
went to the polls. At least 62 people died in a series of 10 bomb blasts at
coffee shops and other public places in Iraq, two days after Al-Qaeda
terrorists massacred 58 Christians in a Baghdad church.
Iran:
Russia 'sold' us to Americans
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused Russia on Wednesday of
"selling" Iran to its enemies, or the US, by canceling a deal to sell the
Islamic Republic the S-300 missile defense system. Russia canceled the deal
almost two months ago, despite having previously said new sanctions on the
Islamic Republic did not apply to the sale.
Haiti
wants major camp evacuated ahead of storm
It was the jewel of Haiti's post-earthquake recovery: an organized
relocation camp with thousands of tents billed as hurricane-resistant, lined
up in neat rows on graded mountain soil. Now, staring down an expected hit
later this week from a hurricane, officials say Corail-Cesselesse is not
safe. On Tuesday, the government advised the estimated 7,850 residents of
its primary relocation camp to ride out the storm somewhere else.
What is Israel really doing about Iran?
In his final briefing to the Knesset as head of Military Intelligence, Amos
Yadlin summed up the security situation on Tuesday, at the end of his
five-year term, by saying the security front is unusually quiet and that
Israel's intelligence coverage of its enemies has improved - but that the
next war, if and when it erupts, will be worse than its predecessors,
especially for the home front.
How will the Republican-controlled House affect U.S.-Israel ties?
The Republican's victory in the House of Representatives on Tuesday leaves
many in Israel wondering whether President Barack Obama's stymied domestic
agenda will encourage him to concentrate more on foreign policy, including
the Middle East peace process. The Republicans are expected to take a
tougher stance on Iran and put pressure on the Obama administration to be
easier on Israel.
Republicans ride voter
unrest to control of House
Republicans drew on the support of independents and the energy of tea party
activists to fashion a resounding victory in the House in midterm elections,
increased their strength in the Senate and quickly served notice they intend
to challenge President Barack Obama with a conservative approach to the
economy. "We hope President Obama will now respect the will of the people,
change course, and to commit to making changes they are demanding," Ohio
Rep. John Boehner, the House speaker-in-waiting, told cheering partisans as
GOP gains mounted Tuesday night.
Israel halts 'dialogue' with
UK over war crimes law
Israel is postponing "strategic dialogue" with Britain over defence and
security issues, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman said. The move is a
protest over attempts to use British law to prosecute visiting Israeli
officials for alleged war crimes, the spokesman added. The news comes on the
first day of an official visit to Israel by the UK's Foreign Secretary
William Hague.
Earthquake kills
two in central Serbia
A moderate earthquake has hit central Serbia, killing two people and
injuring at least 50 others. The tremor had a magnitude of 5.3 and its
epicentre was near the city of Kraljevo, some 150km (94 miles) south-west of
the capital. The quake struck at 0156 (0056 GMT), the US Geological Survey
said.
Indonesia volcano Mount
Merapi in new eruption
Indonesia's Mount Merapi volcano has erupted again, with greater force than
last week's eruptions in which 36 people died, reports say. Witnesses said
lava and burning rocks were shooting from its crater. The exclusion zone has
been expanded.
US Federal Reserve set
for more quantitative easing
The Federal Reserve will announce later its plans to stimulate the US
economy, with expectations high that they will feature the reintroduction of
so-called quantitative easing (QE). Many analysts expect the Fed to start
pumping around $500bn (£310bn) into the economy to boost the fragile
recovery. The economy grew by an annual rate of 2% between July and
September - not enough to reduce high unemployment.
'Israel
won't get away with treatment of Palestinians'
A BBC interview with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri was broadcast on
Wednesday, in which he blamed Israel for the absence of peace in the region
and told BBC Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen that it is this lack of peace
that is the real danger, and not any threat from Iran. "I think Iran has an
influence, but I think the real danger lies in not acheiving a comprehensive
peace," he said.

Black Gold Rush: Israel's oil find fuels Mideast tension
Recently discovered oil reserves in the eastern Mediterranean look set to
become the latest point of tension in the troubled region. At least four
major competitors are staking their claim. Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and
Cyprus all want a piece, but with no clearly defined maritime borders, the
fight could be lengthy, bitter... and even bloody.
Dead Sea
Scrolls Go Public and Digital
The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) is cooperating with Google Israel on
a huge project: the creation of an online digital library that will finally
display the Dead Sea scrolls to the general public, more than 50 years after
their discovery. The scrolls include all of the books of the Bible and date
from the late Second Temple period.

New Hampshire District Admits Ron Paul Votes Not Counted
The head clerk of the New Hampshire town of Sutton has been forced to
admit that Ron Paul received 31 votes yet when the final amount was
transferred to a summary sheet and sent out to the media, the total was
listed as zero. The fiasco throws the entire primary into doubt and could
lead to a re-count.

Major allegations of vote fraud in New Hampshire are circulating after
Hillary Clinton reversed a mammoth pre-polling deficit to defeat Barack

UK Kids Get RFID Chips
- November 13, 2007
Ten schoolchildren in the
United Kingdom are
being tracked by RFID chips in their school uniforms as part of a pilot
program. Video surveillance is already commonplace in the
United Kingdom, and
a growing number of schoolchildren are fingerprinted for administrative
and security reasons. Since 2001, nearly 6,000 pupils have been
fingerprinted in the United
Kingdom with 20 new schools embracing the practice every week.

Genetically Modified Alfalfa
A coalition of farmers, consumers and environmental activists sued the
U.S. government in February, 2006, over its approval of a biotech alfalfa
that critics say will harm farmers and the environment. Opening another
front in the battle over genetically modified crops, the lawsuit contends
that the U.S. Department of Agriculture improperly is allowing Monsanto
Co. to sell an herbicide-resistant alfalfa seed while failing to analyze
the public health, environmental, and economic consequences of that
action.
The lawsuit asks the federal court to rescind the USDA's decision until a
full environmental review has been completed. The suit alleges that the
genetically modified alfalfa will probably contaminate conventionally
grown alfalfa at a fast pace, ultimately forcing farmers to pay for
Monsanto's patented gene technology whether they want the technology or
not.
