PROPAGANDA AND HISTORICAL REVISION DEFINE MIDDLE EAST SCENARIO

                By Jan Markell

Secretary of State Colin Powell is dead wrong when he says the only solution to the Middle East crisis is political. There’s a spiritual component to it…a “battle in the Heavenlies” if you wish, engulfed in distortion, propaganda, lies, and historical revision. The bottom line is that the world has aligned itself against the God of Israel. The truth is outlined in the Bible, considered by many dispensing the propaganda to be a fairy tale.

Here are the facts, but don’t expect to find them in the traditional media.

There has never been a nation of Palestine with a Palestinian government at any period in history. There is no Palestinian language, no distinct culture, and no distinguishing characteristics. Palestinians are Arabs and are no different than Jordanians, Iraqis, Saudis, etc.

The term “Palestine” was invented by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in A.D. 135 after he had destroyed Jerusalem during a campaign to put down a Jewish uprising. He hated the Jews and wanted to de-Judaize Israel. He renamed Israel “Palestine” from the word Philistine, a reference to the pagan, ancient Canaanites. He knew it would be a terrible offence to the Jews.

So who possessed the land over the centuries that the Jews were dispersed? Actually, there was always a Jewish presence in the land. But it would become dominated first by the Romans, then some Muslim Caliphs, then the Crusaders, followed by the Ottoman Turks, and the British. But much of the current land of Israel began to be purchased by Jews from absentee landlords who had abandoned the land…and some of them were Arab….in the 1880’s. It was abandoned by all because it was a barren, malarial-infested swampland and steaming desert. In 1880 Mark Twain wrote that it was a “hopeless, dreary, and heartbroken land.” Only the Jews would ever be able to love it back to life. After all, it had been given to them as an everlasting covenant. (Gen. 17:8)

The Jews have made many concessions to the Arab world just to be left alone and allowed to exist. In 1947 the United Nations set forth a partition plan which divided the area that was to become the new Jewish state. Actually an Arab state, Jordan, and a Jewish state were created. The Jews accepted the plan reluctantly because it stripped her of some sacred ground, including much of Jerusalem. The Arab world rejected it and declared war on the new Jewish state.

It was at this time that about 400,000 Arabs fled the area because the Arab world told them to, not because Israel expelled them. Now Yaser Arafat claims that number plus their descendents totals four million, and they all have a “right of return”. More propaganda and historical revisionism! Israel never asked any Arab to leave her land and those who stayed became Israeli citizens. Some even serve in Israel’s Parliament, called the Knesset. None are forced to serve in Israel’s military and fight fellow Arabs.

At the same time some 600,000 Jews fled Arab countries for Israel, but they were forced to leave $30 billion in assets behind. They fled with only what they could carry. Will they ever be compensated? Don’t count on it. They aren’t

Over the years the U.N. and the Arab world forced many of these Arab “refugees” that they ordered to leave Israel into squalid refugee camps in and around Israel. The Arabs want them to be destitute and miserable, and available as cannon fodder for their suicide wars against Israel. The Arab world owns 99.9% of all the Middle East lands. Israel owns less than one-tenth of one per cent…about the size of New Jersey. There are 22 Arab nations in the Middle East. Why could not a “Palestinian homeland” be located somewhere in that vast area? Because the issue is not a Palestinian homeland alongside a Jewish homeland. The basic issue is the existence of Israel, and even one tenth of one per cent of the total land mass is too much if the Jews live on it! The bottom line is Psalm 83: “Come let us wipe out the very memory of Israel’s existence.” That is why this is a spiritual issue. Yaser Arafat and the rest of the Arab world will not rest until Israel is extinguished. The PLO Charter created by Arafat states this and it has never been amended although that was required in the Oslo Accords. To Arafat and the rest of the Arab world, there simply must be the elimination of Jewry from the Arab-dominated Middle East.

In 1964 Yaser Arafat, an Egyptian, took the terms “Palestine” and “Palestinian” to refer to the Arab claim to the land of Israel. Then came the “Six Day War” of June, 1967. Israel was attacked by many Arab nations and in self defense she captured the Golan Heights, the West Bank (Judea and Samaria in the Bible), and the Gaza Strip. She has held on to the territory for security purposes. They are erroneously called “occupied territories” or “disputed territories”. They are neither. They are a part of the land grant God gave to Israel, yet once again, she is willing to surrender parts of them back to the Arab world if only she could live in peace.
The history is complex, but the bottom line is that “Palestine” and “Palestinian” are now terms used to deny the legitimate right of Israel to exist as a nation. A “Palestinian” became anyone Yaser Arafat said was a “Palestinian”.

Israel allows herself to be a pawn in this sinister game because her leaders and most of her people do not follow the Bible. Thus, in the end, it is God who grieves the most.

Despite all the evidence, the worldwide media refuses to admit it has been backing thugs and liars. They would rather continue uncovering “truth” about the oppressive Jewish Gestapo who are trying to “ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people”. After all, if the Jews actually belonged there, it would mean the Bible had some validity.
